SUGAR & RUM: ORIGIN, PRODUCTION & TRADE EXPERIENCE THE HISTORY OF RUM!
This “Caribbean gold” once made Flensburg rich and famous. After 1755, sugar and rum, along with many other colonial goods, found their way by sailing ship from the Danish West Indies to the then Danish trading post on the Flensburg Firth. Flensburg became Germany’s rum capital. Experience the history of rum in the City of Flensburg with the private collection of distiller Walter Braasch and merchant Karsten Braasch. Take the short trip to the “three small islands” in the Caribbean, which belonged to Denmark until 1917, and learn all about the production and history of rum and sugar. On display are distillation and filling equipment, measuring devices, multiple information panels, a collection of old rum bottles, historical photographs and much more.
